25 MW battery storage officially opened

On September 30, JT Energy Systems, a joint venture of TRIATHLON and the intralogistics specialist Jungheinrich AG, officially opened a new 25 MW battery storage in Freiberg, Saxony.

With this, electricity from renewable sources can be temporarily stored and then marketed as primary control power. In addition to new battery modules, used Lithium-Ion batteries will be used in the stationary storage facility as well. With its pioneering life-cycle management and 2nd life use of batteries, the plant makes an important contribution to sustainable energy supply. The partner companies TRICERA energy GmbH and NOVUM engineering GmbH have also been involved in the design and operation of the plant.
